The Legacy of the Korean War
While the Korean War is know as the Forgotten War, it had a tremendous effect on both the United States and the world. The United States alone suffered the loss of 36,516 troops, 92,134 wounded soldiers, and 4,759 troops declared MIA. Despite the colossal casualties, the war did bring about change both internationally and on our own land. The armistice between North and South Korea has been upheld with few incidences since the end of the war. Also, the racial integration of troops became regulated and equal opportunities were given to African Americans in military training and combat positions.
